The Barnet Safer Neighbourhood Board would like to express their deepest condolences and thoughts to the victims of yesterday's attack on the streets of London. Our thoughts are with their families, friends and colleagues at this difficult time. Special thanks go to all the emergency services and everyone that responded to this attack yesterday.

What can we do?
A key ingredient of any prevention of terrorism work is that we can say out loud that this London belongs to every one of us, whatever our race or creed. That is the way we can ensure we give no ideological space for acts of terror, which are committed by criminals who would want to destroy people and, with it drive out human kindness and break the strength of our richly diverse society. We must show that such incidents are simply base criminal acts.
In a very practical way, the work of London's Safer Neighbourhood Boards in each of our 32 London boroughs is vital in ensuring that the communities and the people of each borough have a representative and consistent voice in community/police engagement and accountability. It is one obvious way to ensure we play our part in challenging extremism.
